Kentico Site of the Year Award for Recorded Books

We're over the moon that we've won a Site of the Year award for our work with Recorded Books - and in the Best Customer Success category, no less!

We were also Site of the Year finalists in the Best Migration and Best Online Marketing Implementation categories.

As one of our biggest projects to date, we are incredibly pleased to announce that we've won the Kentico Site of the Year award for our project with Recorded Books in the category for Best Customer Success! Alongside this, we were also Site of the Year finalists in the Best Migration and Best Online Marketing Implementation categories for our work with DMH Stallard and Union Square Software respectively.

The Best Customer Success category celebrates projects that have delivered impressive tangible results – such as the 75% increase in sales for Recorded Books after their new website launch. As an agency that prides itself on digital transformation and having previously won a Kentico Site of the Month award for this site, we're thrilled to have received further recognition in this competitive category.

The project

As an internationally operating business with offices in the U.S., U.K. and Australia, Recorded Books is one of the most famous names in the audiobook industry. With many content editors and thousands of products, creating a site that was easy-to-use (for both Recorded Books and website visitors) was one of the main aims of the project. Furthermore, the site needed full e-commerce functionality so that users could make purchases.

Many changes were made to improve the user experience. These included 'recommended' and 'recently viewed' titles so that content is tailored to the customer and they can easily find the books that they are interested in. Similarly, we implemented suggestive and advanced search so that users can easily locate specific titles. We also improved the shopping cart experience by implementing the ability to process transactions in multiple currencies, as well as the addition of an infinite shopping cart. This gives users the ability to add or move items, or share them with other customers, without having to worry about them disappearing from their own cart. As well as this, we also built a bespoke discount model for Recorded Books so that filtering was included, and added a macro builder so that Recorded Books could make more specific filtering. In the API, discounts are calculated in runtime for each single title, in every page (title detail pages, search results, wishlists etc.).

Customer success!

As well as the 75% increase in sales for Recorded Books, it is easy to see that the new site significantly improved the user experience. Visitors are now far more engaged, as shown with the following metrics:

  • An increase of 65% more pages per session
  • Average session duration has increased by 101%
  • A 32% reduction in bounce rate 

The new site has also decreased the cost of ongoing maintenance for Recorded Books, as well as made life a lot easier for content editors!

As if achieving results like this for a client on one of our largest and most ambitious projects wasn't enough, receiving recognition for this success is extremely rewarding.
